What is EN 407? Thermal Glove Protection | LESH
1 Flame Resistance
The sample glove is stretched before a flame is applied to the glove for 15 seconds. After 15 seconds the flame is removed and the time is measure until the material glows or burns.
2 Contact Heat Resistance
The exterior of the sample glove is exposed to heat between 100˚C and 500 ˚C. The temperature inside the glove is them monitored, the time is logged for the temperature inside the glove to increase by 10 ˚C. The minimum is applying 250 ˚C for 15 seconds after which time the temperature inside the glove should not exceed 35 ˚C.
3 Convective Heat Resistance
The sample glove is positioned in front of a gas flame (80Kw), the time is logged until the gloves interior reaches 24 ˚C
4 Radiant Heat Resistance
The sample glove is stretched in front of a heat source with of approx. 20-40Kw. The average time is measures for heat to penetrate of 2.5Kw
5 Small Splash of Molten Metal Resistance
The amount of small drops required is recorded to achieve a 40˚C increase in temperature inside the glove.
6 Large Splash of Molten Metal Resistance
A artificial layer of skin is positioned beneath the sample material before molten metal is poured over it. The amount in grams is measure until the artificial skin becomes damaged.
See the results table below. However, results on the product is displayed beneath the flame logo (shown at the top of this document)
